AISC's Final Exams: Examination Guidelines

The final exams for the Australian International School Certificate will be held on Tuesday May 11, 2010. Two PLC senior teachers will come to VAS Hanoi to supervise this event. Exam papers will be marked in Australia. Following are the examination guidelines: [b]GLOBAL ENGLISH[/b][i] • Date of examination: Tuesday 11 May 2010 • Time: To be advised – examinations will be held in before 12.00pm • Venue: Room 416 • Weighting: This examination will be worth 50% of your final AISC mark[/i] [b][u]Examination Content[/b][/u] [b]Section One[/b] [i]Reading:[/i] Multiple choice and short answer questions that are based on a piece of writing, a passage that must be read, an advertisement, and an article. [b]Section Two[/b] [i]Film Study:[/i] An Inconvenient Truth; In your answers you will be assessed on your ability to: • Show understanding of the film An Inconvenient Truth, • Organise and apply knowledge • Use appropriate language to answer set questions. • A mixture of short and long answers is required and you should try to fill the space provided. • Some stimulus material will help you to get answers [b]Section Three[/b] [i]Writing:[/i] In your answers you will be assessed on your ability to formulate an opinion in response to a question [b]GLOBAL COMMERCE[/b][i] • Date of examination: Tuesday 11 May 2010 • Time: To be advised – examinations will be held in before 12.00pm • Venue: Room 416 • Weighting: This examination will be worth 50% of your final AISC mark[/i] [b][u]Examination Content[/b][/u] [b]Section One[/b] Glossary and terminology, in particular the matching of glossary terms to their definitions [b]Section Two[/b] Short answers to questions from stimulus material such as an advertisement from the newspaper, a short newspaper clipping, a graph [b]Section Three[/b] Longer answers and some graphing, again from stimulus material. In your answer you will be assessed on your ability to: • Use your knowledge and the information provided • Communicate using relevant commercial terminology and concepts • Present a well structured answer. [b]Section Four[/b] Case Study based Structured Response. Information is given about a company/business and you are asked questions about the business from the case study material[b]
